Blue Weed
Attention Lake County Residents!!
Blueweed has been found in Lake County.
It was located on McDonald Lake Road, also in Ronan and a large area on private property in an area that will give it a chance to travel farther afield. Please be aware of this and let us know if you should find
any sites in your area. Here are just a couple of pictures of the plant and a
short description.

BLUEWEED is a Biennial to short-lived perennial. It is a rosette in spring but by
late June is tall with bright blue blossoms covering the upper sides of the stems.
Blueweed has rought hairy leaves which become progressively smaller towards the
top of the plant. Blueweed grows in dry roadsides, disturbed habitats, rocky pastures
and rangelands. It is spread mostly by seeds falling to the ground near the parent
plant but its rough seeds can stick to clothing, animal fur and feathers giving it the
chance to infest other fields or disturbed areas.
